Alternative Assessment: Grading for Growth

Course Description

This course is offered on by the University of Nebraska Kearney on our UNK Advance platform in partnership with the Online Learning Consortium.

This 7-day workshop will cover alternative approaches to assessment in digital learning environments. The course will begin with a discussion of current state and common concerns with digital learning assessment practices. Participants will explore alternatives to current practices, including authentic assessments, alignment of course materials, and broader strategies such as (un)grading, learning contracts, and various approaches to each of these. Participants will also develop strategies to sustain these practices at the institutional level through discussion of assessment practices impact on various offices. By the end of the workshop, participants will create a plan for implementing an alternative assessment into daily work.
