Transform Relationships & Resolve Conflict with Resortive Justice Practices

Course Description

This highly interactive experience will provide foundational knowledge and skills to those seeking understanding and growth in restorative justice practices. Through an introduction of theory and hands on skill practice, participants will deepen their understanding of why restorative practices is are essential in all spaces. The heart of this work is building and strengthening relationships and knowing how to repair those relationships when harm occurs. Participants will leave this course with skills to begin using restorative justice approaches with clients, in their workplaces, and personal lives.  

Time Commitment

This course will meet 4 times in person (January 23, February 6, February 20, and March 6, 2025 from 8:30am-4:30pm) in Lincoln, NE. Time commitment outside of class will be approximately 2-3 hours in between each class. This will include some reading and participating in online group discussion questions. Participants must attend all four sessions in order to complete the course and receive a badge. There will be no alternative dates or virtual option offered unless there is inclement weather.   2. Apply the concepts of the Social Discipline Window in their personal and professional spaces.
  3. Utilize restorative statements and questions.
  4. Understand the role of social emotions in restorative justice interventions.
  5. Identify the restorative practice continuum.
  6. Facilitate proactive and responsive circles.
  7. Create an individual implementation plan.
  8. Understand the impact on victims participating in the process

Policies

This non-credit course is offered in-person and online using the Canvas LMS, over 3 months. It is synchronous with some asynchronous components. The course is approximately 40 hours. You will be assessed throughout the course to demonstrate proficiency on the subject matter. You must attend all synchronous sessions and pass all assessments before receiving the course badge.
