Full course description
Physicians accumulate large amounts of debt which can have a significant impact on their future financial wellbeing. Further, the prolonged training requirements to become a practicing physician often result in physicians entering the workforce much later than comparable non-medical professionals. This results in fewer income-producing years and less margin for error when it comes to preparing financially for retirement.
Medical students and physicians-in-training report a lack of comfort with personal finance and a desire for training programs to provide a formal personal finance curriculum. Lastly, financial stress has been found to be associated with burnout and depression. Improving financial wellness is key to improving physician wellbeing overall. This 12-module course will cover topics important to physician financial wellness including student loan management, budgeting, buying a home, disability and life insurance, retirement saving and investing.
