Course Description

This course (17 sessions, 3hr each week, January- May) will provide students with test-taking strategies required for the medical school entrance exam. The course will include a skill set to improve question-solving abilities. Sample questions will be discussed in class, and practice for subject-specific tests and full-length tests will be provided online. Review guides and notes for each topic will also be posted online, which needs to be reviewed before each session. Instructors include subject-specific college professors and experienced MCAT/DAT/OAT takers. Course format involves synchronous online sessions with the instructors on zoom.

Learning Objectives

  1. Demonstrate content mastery across the different sections of the MCAT (Biological and Biochemical Foundations of Living Systems; Chemical and Physical Foundations of Biological Systems; Psychological, Social, and Biological Foundations of Behavior; and Critical Analysis and Reasoning Skills).
  2. Apply foundational scientific concepts (biology, biochemistry, general chemistry, organic chemistry, physics, psychology, and sociology) to solve integrated problems in biomedical contexts.
  3. Interpret and analyze scientific data, figures, and experimental designs presented in passage-based and standalone questions.
  4. Strengthening critical reasoning and reading comprehension through systematic practice with complex texts and argument structures.
  5. Employ effective test-taking strategies, including pacing, process of elimination, and passage-mapping techniques, to maximize accuracy and efficiency.
  6. Integrate knowledge across disciplines to address questions requiring cross-sectional reasoning and synthesis of information.
  7. Reflect on progress and readiness by interpreting practice exam results and setting strategies for continued improvement leading up to the official exam.
