Course Description

COVID-19 and other stressors have led to a rise in addictive behaviors in our society, and social workers face this issue in practice more often than anticipated. Technology has exposed individuals to even more temptations and opportunities to develop compulsive behaviors. This course addresses these issues, factors to consider in treating those with addictive behaviors, and techniques providers can employ to sustain hope in working with this population.

  1. Analyze contributing factors to addiction.
  2. Explore the history of drugs in the U.S.
  3. Evaluate debates in addiction prevention and treatment.
