This course provides an understanding and analysis of communicating and leading in the remote workplace environment. Participants will engage with and apply theories and content to remote workplace situations including, but not limited to, virtual presence, digital empathy, mediated communication, media richness, and online inhibition effect to build skills, confidence, and comfort when leading, collaborating, communication, and fostering organizational culture within remote environments. This course provides opportunities to identify and utilize resources for effective communication and building community within remote workplace environments. Participants will build effective communication skills in order to meet today's dynamic remote workplace business challenges. 

 Learning Outcomes

·      Understand communication challenges that impact remote workspaces.  

·      Analyze remote workplace communication culture.  

·      Apply effective communication strategies within remote workspaces.  

·      Connect learning to remote workplace experiences.  

·      Develop and implement remote workplace communication action plan 

Format: This non-credit course is offered online using the Canvas LMS, over a 4-week period. It is asynchronous, but not self-paced. This course takes approximately 15 hours to complete. You should plan to spend about 3-4 hours per week. Participants will be assessed throughout the course to demonstrate their proficiency on the subject matter. They must pass all assessments before receiving the course badge.
